Job Description

Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary research staff. Independently provides research audiological services in hearing research using human subjects. Manages multiple aspects of research endeavors in the assigned research laboratory.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 9a-6p.Flexibility for weekends (no more than a half-day 2x a month).MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Performs a wide range of routine and advanced audiological tests, as necessary, to determine hearing status.
  • Participates in special projects, and/or research studies using human research testing protocols.
  • Supervises the work of other audiologists or students as assigned by the Laboratory Coordinator.
  • Recruits subjects for participation in approved research projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to apply knowledge of hearing disorders to determine hearing status via a variety of audiological, psychoacoustic, and/or physiological tests
  • Knowledgeable of local, regional, and national regulations related to the use of humans as research subjects, including, but limited to subject/patient confidentiality procedures in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Ability to follow human subjects procedures and obtain informed consent from subjects.
  • In cooperation with the IRB and with the Coordinator of the HRSC, perform regular quality assurance assessments of the consent process.
  • Ability to follow a research protocol under the direction of the principal investigator of the research project.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate research and clinical equipment, software, and other specialized devices necessary for the conduct of research.
  • Should have effective oral and written communication skills and be able to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Assists with data analysis, the development of tables and figures, and manuscript preparation as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's or AUD degree in audiology from an ETB accredited university required.
  • Minimum of one year of practical experience in the area of audiology required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of hearing disorders and of normal hearing function for subjects of all ages required.
  • Have or be eligible for appropriate state licensing required.
  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative(CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
