NEPA/Environmental Project Manager

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Natural Resources Group. This individual will supervise and train other professionals and junior staff. Experience in transportation, facility, and community related planning and environmental documentation, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, Trail Planning, Mobility Planning, Comprehensive Planning, Long Range Planning, and other resource assessments is required.

Location

This position will have a hybrid work schedule and, when in the office, will work from our Omaha, NE or Bellevue, NE office.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Serve as Primary Author or Project Manager for all levels of NEPA documents and/or Planning studies, such as CE, EA, EIS, CE, Mobility Plans, Long Range Plans, Corridor Studies, Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) studies, area-wide-plans, or development plans.
  • Lead client communication, scope development, contract management, and staff direction.
  • Lead project level public outreach efforts, give presentations, and respond to feedback.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply environmental and planning sector regulations at the federal, state, and local level for compliance with legal requirements, advancement of the project, protection of the client, and stewardship of the environment.
  • Review past and current planning and environmental documentation for relevant and applicable data, synthesize and report findings, and apply results to future projects.
  • Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, agency representatives, the public, and other professionals to develop innovative and reasonable solutions to complex infrastructure related problems and challenges.
  • Manage assigned projects by providing direct supervision and overall leadership.
  • Develop project scope, schedule and budget, and integrate into work plans.
  • Identify resources needed and effectively delegate staff duties and responsibilities.
  • Check and sign off on deliverables while ensuring completeness.
  • Review and/or prepare all project-related correspondence.
  • Review and verify invoices and direct expense reports for accuracy and prepare support information required for contract compliance.
  • Monitor staff hours for appropriate labor codes and charges.
  • Ensure compliance with PQMP procedures and assigned projects.
  • Track lessons learned and share those lessons with team members.
  • Perform field or site visits as required.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary or complex projects by providing direct supervision and overall leadership, and manage multiple, smaller projects concurrently.
  • Create and execute advanced project work plans and revise as necessary to meet changing project needs and requirements.
  • Identify business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.
  • Assist with marketing efforts, proposal writing and marketing visits to potential clients.
  • Maintain an awareness of new and emerging technology and the potential application on current projects.
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Perform training/knowledge-sharing activities on a larger scale.
  • Advanced involvement in professional organizations, seeking leadership roles.
  • Contribute to Professional Development Plans.
  • Comply with all project and company safety guidelines.
What You Will Need
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional certification strongly preferred.
    • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Environmental Scientist (CES), Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), or similar.
  • Strong motivation and drive.
  • Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills.
  • Strong organization and ability to perform services efficiently and within budgets and schedules.
  • Understand risk management strategies.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Manage project team activities.
  • Identify client business needs and opportunities.
  • Developed network of professionals.
