General Description | The purpose of this position is to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and administrators while leading and supervising residence life custodial staff. This is accomplished by assisting with the supervision of full-time, part-time, student help, and summer crews of twelve or more employees. This includes sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming classrooms, offices, halls, dining hall, game room, fitness center, serving area, kitchens, living quarters, study areas, trash rooms, restrooms, windows, corridors, and other public areas, making minor repairs, and reporting maintenance issues in the buildings. Other duties include picking up trash and performing routine maintenance. Maintains assigned area(s) in a clean, orderly and attractive manner and performs related work as assigned by the Associate Director of Custodial Services and the Director of Physical Plant. This position works closely with the Residence Life Director, Cafeteria staff and management, Associate Director and staff. |
Qualifications: Education | Associate's degree required. |
Qualification:Experience | Over three years up to and including five years. |
Qualification:Skills | General knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in custodial work. General knowledge of safety precautions and warning signals regarding College building equipment. Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials. Ability to give and follow instructions. Ability to effectively orient and train new employees. Ability to perform medium physical work. Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments. |
